Yellow Bird

I can’t get enough of this kid.I wish I could just post photo after photo of him, because he has a million and one expressions. He is one of those children that you can tell will be into everything, not in a bad way, in a curiosity kind of way. He already loves music and drums, and a gerbil or hamster (i’m not sure which) that keeps busy in a cage in the living room. And he clearly informs you with his eyes if he is unamused by whatever antics you are attempting to entertain him with. He (at least when I’ve been around) is tremendously mellow, which adds to the array of faces that he comes up with. I wish that every day I could be mesmerized by little yellow birds and just take the things I like, and pass up the things I don’t.
Textures and holding on.

She grasped onto my finger, barely covering my fingernail. I could not get over how fragile this little one was. Born weighing under 5 pounds, she amazed me with how strong her grip around my finger was. Each time I go and visit with this little one, I am reminded about the power of our strength. The will to survive and be strong, is so much greater than we ever admit. What if we were to grasp onto our dreams in such a way as this little one, and not let go.
Lizzie

It always amazes me how small babies are. I know this seems absurd, babies, are supposed to be small, right? When I met Lizzie for the first time, she was on this earth for one month. She entered 4 weeks early, and weighed less than 5 pounds. Holding her, felt like holding weighted air. Her entire being was delicate and precious. She was the most fragile creature I had ever gazed upon, and there she was so anxious to come into the world, working so hard at growing. What if we simply were anxious to be a part of this world, stopping and loving the moments we are here, grasping as much as we can, as quickly as we can, and falling in love with every single moment.
